Moving calendar data into the university Nextcloud

As of 31.12.2025, the DaviCAL service of FB3 will be discontinued. Calendar data should be migrated to an alternative service in a timely manner. This document describes how to migrate your calendar data to the Nextcloud of the university.

Exporting DaviCAL calendars

A DaviCAL calendar can be downloaded as an ICS file in the browser at the following URL, where $NAME must be replaced with the name of the calendar (usually the username of the owner). Login is done with the Uni-Account.

Exporting FB3 Nextcloud calendars

1. Login to the FB3 Nextcloud and go to the Calendar tab. (Direct link)
2. Hover over the name of the calendar to be exported and click the pencil icon.
3. In the dialog, click Export to download an ICS file.

Importing calendars in Nextcloud

If you want to integrate calendars from the university Nextcloud e.g. into Thunderbird, you cannot use the password of the university account for this. See also the instructions from Administrative Department 5 on this.

For group calendars it may be useful to assign them to a role-based account. The following steps apply equally to personal and role-based accounts.

1. Login to the Uni Nextcloud and go to the Calendar tab. (Direct link)
2. Create a new calendar by clicking the "+" symbol next to Calendars on the left sidebar.
3. Click on Calendar settings at the bottom left of the sidebar, then click Import calendar.
4. Select the previously exported ICS file to upload.
5. Choose the newly created calendar as the target for the import and confirm the process.
6. If it is a shared calendar:
   1. Hover over the name of the imported calendar on the left and click the pencil icon.
   2. In the dialog under Share calendar, enter the corresponding people or groups.
      •  Note: Groups here refer to user groups for the Uni-Account, not the groups from the FB3 group management.
