Setting up Papercut printers on Linux
Unfortunately, Papercut does not offer a quick installation for mobile printing on Linux, so the printers must be configured manually. The following steps should work on all Linux distributions where CUPS is installed.
The printers require a login after submitting print jobs. See the print queue once a job has been submitted.
Setting black-and-white printers
- Open the following address in a web browser:
- Click on Administration and authenticate as
root
. - Click Add printer.
- Under Other Network Printers select Internet Printing Protocol (https) and click Continue.
- Enter one of the following addresses in the Connection field and click Continue.

https://printerhost.informatik.uni-bremen.de:9164/printers/lw1-wlan
- Enter at least a name and click Continue.
- Under Make select Generic and click Continue.
- Under Model select Generic PCL Laser Printer and click Add printer.
- Click on the printer name and select Set Default Options in the Administration menu.
- Under Options Installed set Duplexer to Installed and click Set Default Options.
Setting up the color printer
- Open the following address in a web browser:
- Click on Administration and authenticate as
root
. - Click Add printer.
- Under Other Network Printers select Internet Printing Protocol (https) and click Continue.
- Enter the following address in the Connection field and click Continue.

- Enter at least a name and click Continue.
- Download the Linux PPD driver from the Kyocera website and unpack it (Link to driver website).
- Under Or Provide a PPD File select the file
Kyocera ECOSYS P7240cdn.ppd
from the sub directoryLinux/EU/English
of the unpacked driver and click Add printer. - Click on the printer name and select Set Default Options in the Administration menu.
- Under Options Installed set Faper Feeders to Three and click Set Default Options.
