The MZH access control system: Overview

The MZH building of the University of Bremen is equipped with an access control system with card readers. For the operation of the card readers, contactless transponder chips are issued to the users.

Card readers are located, among other places, at a building entrance door, at the entrances to the central internship area on the ground level, at most of the glass doors that separate the offices from the foyer of the respective level, as well as at some offices.

From Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, the entrance door, the elevator, the stairwell, and (with some exceptions) all glass doors are open. Rooms with card readers are subject to constant access control. During the remaining time, the previously mentioned doors can also be opened with an access card, provided that the card has the appropriate rights assigned.

Issuance of Access Chips

First-year students receive an access chip during their introductory event at the beginning of the winter semester. Other students and staff receive a chip from the chip dispensers. The current chip dispensers are listed on a notice posted on the door to the central internship area (MZH ground level).

A deposit of EUR 10.00 must be paid for each access chip, which will be refunded upon the return of the chip.

Returning access chips

The access chips can be returned to the chip dispensers. Please observe the office hours.
