Migrating FB3 Nextcloud data to the Uni Nextcloud

The FB3 Nextcloud server will be discontinued on December 31, 2025. This page describes how users can export their data and, where possible, migrate it to the University's Nextcloud.

General

• For shared resources (files, calendars, etc.), only the owner needs to carry out the migration steps.
• If resources have been shared with other people, they must be manually reconfigured in the university Nextcloud after moving them over.
• Groups from the FB3 group management are not recognized in the university Nextcloud. Instead, user groups from the university's group administration can be used.
• For shared resources it sometimes makes sense to assign them to a role-based account.

Files

1. Install the Nextcloud-Client.
2. Configure the accounts of both FB3 and Uni Nextcloud.
3. Synchronize the files to be migrated to your device.
4. Copy or move the files to a folder synchronized with the Uni Nextcloud.
5. Wait until the files have been fully uploaded to the Uni Nextcloud.

Contacts

1. Login to the FB3 Nextcloud and go to the Contacts tab. (Direct link)
2. Hover the mouse pointer over a contact group to migrate and click the three dots (•••) and then Export.
3. Login to the Uni Nextcloud and go to the Contacts tab. (Direct link)
4. On the bottom left, click on Contacts settings, then Import contacts, then Select local file and upload the file downloaded in step 2.
5. Repeat these steps for all your contact groups.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks are unfortunately not supported by the university Nextcloud. The HTML file exported as described below can just be opened in a web browser to view and access the bookmarks. The steps to export are as follows:

1. Login to the FB3 Nextcloud and go to the Bookmarks tab. (Direct link)
2. On the bottom left click Bookmarks settings and then Export bookmarks.

Forms

Unfortunately, forms can not be directly migrated. But it is possible to download the results of existing forms.

1. Login to the FB3 Nextcloud and go to the Forms tab. (Direct link)
2. Hover the mouse pointer over a form on the left and click the three dots (•••), then Results.
3. On the results page, click the three dots (•••), then Download and select the desired format.
4. Repeat these steps for all forms whose results you want to export.

News

News are unfortunately not supported by the Uni Nextcloud. However, the file downloaded as described below should be importable by common feed readers.

1. Login to the FB3 Nextcloud and go to the News tab. (Direct link)
2. On the bottom left, click Settings and at the very bottom (you might need to scroll down) under Abonnements (OPML) on the button with the downarrow ().
