Video surveillance in the building MZH
In early 2005, a video surveillance system was installed in the building MZH. This measure was decided by university management; the installation and operation are carried out by Administrative Department 4.
The image data is stored on a central recording device located in a locked room in the MZH. Live images from the cameras cannot be viewed.
The data retention duration of the video data is a maximum of four days; after that, the data is automatically deleted. (According to information from Administrative Department 4 dated January 10, 2011, the data retention duration is one week.)
Only the following three individuals are authorized to access the recording device:
- the operationally responsible person with the Administrative Department 4
- a representative of the Staff Council
- the data protection officer of the university
The data is protected (by three passwords) in such a way that only the three mentioned individuals can access it together.
The recordings may only be viewed if there are indications of a crime to the detriment of the university or its employees (or authorized users of the building). A protocol will be created regarding the viewing. Access to the recordings is requested through the faculty administration.
